Will implement Salt Smart best management practices with the goal of providing safe surfaces while reducing the impacts of chlorides on built and natural environments.

Will provide training to all staff involved with winter maintenance activities annually by November 30 or within 2 weeks of new employment. Training should highlight impacts of chlorides and focus on organization’s policies, practices and equipment.*

Will calibrate all chloride spreading equipment (granular and liquids) and maintain documentation at least annually by November 30 and after relevant repairs.*

Will submit annual report of activities and chloride usage annually by July 1 for preceding winter.*
